Dr. Glenda Wright-McCullum

Dr. Glenda Wright-McCullum is a life-long resident of the city of Joliet, and a proven influential leader in the community and surrounding region. Many of her pursuits are distinguished with a determination to help others succeed through tools of empowerment. Demonstrating a notable passion for her city, Dr. McCullum’s concerns and support extend far beyond her immediate sphere and into the surrounding communities.

In her pursuit of knowledge and the value placed on higher learning, Dr. Wright-McCullum received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from St. Thomas Christian College in Jacksonville, Florida. She earned a Certificate of Completion in Kingdom Studies from Kingdom University School of Ministry, Dr. N. Cindy Trimm, Chancellor; an Associate’s Degree in General Studies, as well as a Certificate of Achievement in Human Resources from Joliet Junior College, and is currently furthering ministerial studies through Price University in Tulsa, OK.


Dr. Wright-McCullum has served in ministry for over 30 years; serving as the senior leader at Gateway Worship Assembly, formally known as Kingdom Builders International Worship and Training Center, for over 16 years. She is currently serving as one of the governing leaders at Antioch Christian Assembly Church International in Joliet, IL. Dr. McCullum has traveled extensively, nationally and internationally to several countries to include Australia, Singapore, South Africa, Malaysia, and St. Kitts, West Indies.

Joliet Peace Walk Participants Want Their Neighborhoods Back

....One of the event organizers, Pastor Glenda McCullum of Kingdom Builders International Worship & Training Center, told the crowd there have been 12 murders in Joliet since November. She read the names of victims aloud, and asked others to say the names of loved ones who had died.

McCullum gave a powerful and moving sermon before stepping off to walk the streets of Joliet in a show of solidarity and support for neighborhoods plagued by violence.

“I grew up just a few blocks from here,” McCullum said before the event was underway. “It breaks my heart to see what’s happened in the neighborhood.”

The peace walk is just one of many initiatives planned by Men of Valor 2 as part of the Stop the Gun Violence Epidemic program.... Click on photo to see full article

JOLIET – In November, Mayor Bob O'Dekirk appointed the Rev. Glenda McCullum, 62, to the Housing Authority of Joliet's board of commissioners.

He did it for two reasons: McCullum asked to be considered when a position opened, and O'Dekirk, who's known McCullum for years, said he has much respect for her – as a leader and as a former resident of the authority's recently demolished Des Plaines Garden Homes apartments.... Arise Community Development Corporation, a 501(c)(3) organization was established to further serve under-privileged youth in the community and beyond through community events, summer day camps, back-to-school and family-involved events. Glenda McCullum Ministries, a 501 (c) 3 organization, hosts conferences, workshops, symposiums, concerts and seminars transforming and empowering the lives of women from all walks of life with life-skills, educational prowess and self-discovery.

Dr. Wright-McCullum possesses the skill sets that it takes to lead and lead well. These skill sets were formulated and built with years of experience through employment opportunities, including the position held as the Personnel Technician for the City of Joliet. This occupation was in succession to the position held at General Motors, Fisher Body where she was hand-selected for the promotion of supervisor, giving executive oversight and management to a team of 50+ people. Dr. Wright-McCullum currently serves as Chairwoman on the Board of Commissioners for the Joliet Housing Authority, where she and the board are advocating for affordable housing within the city.


As a successful entrepreneur, Dr. Wright-McCullum possesses an extensive knowledge in real estate rehab and development. She is the CEO of Gatekeeper Investments, LLC, a real estate investment company specializing in property rehabilitation, thereby, furthering her desire to provide affordable housing; turning houses into homes.

Dr. Wright-McCullum owns her own fragrance line of colognes and perfumes named "Glenda", "Glenda Rae" and "Rae for Him". She specializes in beauty consulting, primarily through Mary Kay cosmetics, and is also a recording artist with three albums in circulation titled "House of Prayer", "Secret Place Encounters" and "I Bowed On My Knees and Cried Holy".

The mother of three, grandmother and great-grandmother, Dr. McCullum’s passion is to see positive transformation within the city she loves and is domiciled; a notable component and powerful dynamic in her quest for election to the Joliet City Council, representing District 2.
